Christmas Happiness

Christmas is a season of receiving and giving. Happiness comes when we give out from our hearts. We have smiles on our faces when we receive gifts from our loved ones and friends but the greatest happiness is when we give to others. On the Christmas eve, there was the joy of just watching the children unwrapped their presents with excitements. Their faces were filled with trills and excitements what were installed for them. As I ponder about it, we should be like these children and let each day unfolds to us with surprises instead of wanting to know every bit of tomorrow.

On Christmas day I did the unexpected  by first visiting my uncle and wife, and another uncle. We had a warm and hearty lunch at an industrial area. Later we decided to visit our grand aunt. Its had been ages I last saw her, and to my sadness I discovered that she was down with glaucoma. It is a disease that affects the optic nerve and leads to blindness. She could not see me but recognized my voice. I took her gentle hands and allowed her to touch the structure of my face. We had light conversation and sat there for many hours. She sat there quietly with a serene face and one can observed that her ears were  attentive to all the chattering voices of her daughters, son-in law and relatives.

I felt happy within me because this is another form of giving a 'gift' to a lonely person where the window of her eyes are in total darkness.

Happiness with a Button

For many of us, the pursuit of happiness could range from fulfilling goals till a wholehearted meal. Can we still find fulfillment insignificant event of life?
Sometime ago an elderly lady from the rural area came to stay with her daughter as her husband was at the 4th stage cancer. What could I do to elevate her pain? Words will not be sufficed. I thought the best way was to show some kindness. After work, I will intentionally fold her clothes that had been dried under the sun while she visited her husband. 

As I fold her clothes, I noticed a button from one of her dark pink blouse was about to drop off. I decided to sew the button back to the exact position.As I was sewing, it gave me a sense of happiness to fulfill this tinny act that was unseen. We must not deny small kindness that comes our way and even consider it as a trivial matter. 

I believe we will find a deep sense of fulfillment by using our given unique strength for a purpose, which may be much greater than ourselves.

Happiness in Daily Life

Last week I heard a talk on Happiness. The speaker mentioned happiness stems from a grateful heart.
It is a matter of choice.  Each day, we encounter situations that makes us happy or events that makes us hide like an ostrich. What is important, we need to choose to refuse to think about them, and instead, relish the happy moments.I suppose with the busyness of life, we forgot to pause and be thankful for all the things that came across our path.

Happiness is very much depends on our attitudes in life. Is a feeling of peace, contentment and satisfaction and at that moment you will not trade anything else for it. You will guard that happiness with zealousness as if you have found a priceless gem. If we place high standards to all the things and people around us, naturally we will be critical in every areas including our pets too. If we can look at the other sides of them they will eventually see the aura of our happiness and always want to be with us. Therefore, stay happy and be grateful with both great and small things that happen in our life. Then we will be the happiest person on earth!
